Majestic Realty Co. honored as NAIOP 2015 Developer of the Year

Oct. 20, 2015 – Majestic Realty Co. was honored as the 2015 Developer of the Year by NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, during the organization’s annual meeting and conference in Toronto earlier this month. Headquartered in Southern California, and with regional offices throughout the United States, Majestic, the largest, privately-held industrial developer in the United States, is widely-recognized as an industry leader in the development community.

“Majestic’s unique ability to thrive in changing market conditions, its strong company leadership and financial stability, and longstanding record of community service make it ‘the’ company to emulate across our industry and one in which we are proud to recognize as the 2015 Developer of the Year,” said Thomas J. Bisacquino, NAIOP president and CEO.

Majestic completed nine new buildings in the past year adding more than 6 million square feet and increasing its ownership portfolio to 78 million square feet. Many of the company’s new properties represent some of the largest and most successful build-to-suit and speculative projects in its history. In addition, Majestic announced major mixed-use, retail/entertainment development project and a 2,000-acre land acquisition in Laredo, Texas.

“While our company has had an incredible year, it’s about what all of us in this industry do year after year,” said Majestic President & Chairman, Edward P. Roski, Jr. in receiving the award. “As a company, we look at a community and see not what exists, but rather what it can become. We see not what has went wrong, but rather what we can make right. Day by day, project by project, community by community, we’re restoring the dreams of so many people around the world.”

I’m very grateful for all of the people throughout the decades, who have helped our company receive this very special honor and, more importantly, who have helped people get back on their feet, get back to work and build and strengthen communities across the United States.”

With its most recent successes and planned portfolio growth, Majestic continues to be a dominant industry player with a strong presence in strategic gateway locations, including California, Texas, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Florida, as well as other key hubs that include Denver, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Portland, and Madison, Wisconsin.

Roski, who has lead and flourished in the old-school values and principals practiced and taught by his father, Edward P. Roski, Sr., has compiled and led a dedicated team of real estate, construction and business professionals that have delivered a creative, results-driven, community-minded, business savvy and financially flawless ownership portfolio for over 67 years. Roski and his Majestic team, many of whom have been with the company for more than 30 years, are recognized among the industry leaders as strong advocates, partners, consultants and real estate visionaries to businesses across the globe.

“Our team understands business, understands our clients and works very hard to earn our success in the development community and in our communities at large,” said Roski. “We’re guided by the principle that we believe that the actions we take every day help shape and mold the present into a future of which we can all be proud.”

Widely recognized for its expertise in master-planned business parks for the industrial/warehouse sector, the company has also earned an international reputation with its diverse accomplishments that include co-developing the world-renowned STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, L.A. Live, the Silverton Hotel and Casino Resort in Las Vegas, and the Pacific Palms Conference Resort in southern California, as well as Class A office parks and regional lifestyle shopping centers.

Immersed in industry trends and public policy discussions, Majestic is often the only developer at the table for critical policy and regulatory conversations and decisions. For its efforts and accomplishments, the company has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with an Environmental Justice Achievement Award for its work on the Clean Truck Program at the POLA/POLB.

Additionally, Majestic is the only developer to have a member of its team serve on the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Freight Advisory Committee that advises the U.S. Secretary of Transportation on matters related to developing a national strategic freight plan for the country.

Civic minded and dedicated to the communities in which it operates, the Majestic Realty Foundation and the Land of the Free Foundation have committed millions of dollars to numerous charities over the past several decades and are just two examples of the company’s longstanding commitments to paying it forward by giving back.
